This is my favorite of the Rokinon lenses for vintage purposes. Not many lens brands at the 35mm focal length are very good. The best 35mm lens I have aside from this one is quite possibly the Mir 35mm f2 as far as speed, the Jupiter 35mm f2.8 is still my favorite over the Mir 35, but as far as speed, the Mir 35mm shares the same clarity, and low-diffraction. The bokeh looks very smooth and creamy and sharp.
I don’t want to glorify this lens all that much though. Sharpness is ill-advised for filmmaking. Softer lenses are still encouraged to take away from sharp skin features. There is also a colour/color pattern these Rokinon lenses have that only a skilled colorists know how to remove that involves isolating yellow and re-adding proper skin tone. So, the look of this lens has been very cannibalized by indie filmmakers.
